Having been mocked by a number of people for adding Cardiff to my itinerary (apparently one would only travel here if there was a rugby game on), I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised with the Welsh capital.

Although disappointed the rugby was not on, I quite enjoyed wandering around the city, through the main mall and ducking off into the little alleyways that run off it. I also took a look around Cardiff castle, which was quite interesting.

For me though, the real highlight of Cardiff has been the food. I walked from the Hotel over to the town square last not for a late bite to eat, and had a delicious pasta of spring vegetable ravioli donuts at Jamie's Italian. Not only did I need the vegetables after the past few days, it was superb.

This morning I then had an excellent breakfast at one of the local cafes in the "cafe quarter" of the town square, and an afternoon coffee and toastie at The Plan, which is ranked in the top 50 cafes in the UK apparently.

I am now heading for my train to Bath, which I am really looking forward to seeing as everyone I has spoken to says it is a beautiful city.
